As commercial vehicles adopt higher levels of automation, trucks are now equipped with multiple solenoid valves that provide precise control but require cleaner air than traditional manual brake valves. Emissions controls adopted to meet ever increasingly stringent

The Most Effective Solution
A truck’s compressor passes a small amount of oil during normal operation. The amount of oil passing is a result of compressor design, duty cycle, and life cycle. These resulting oil aerosols are passed into the vehicle’s air system. The first line of defense is the truck’s air dryer, which was designed primarily to remove moisture from the air. A Bendix AD-IS air dryer equipped with a PuraGuard oil-coalescing cartridge provides the industry’s most effective solution for removing oil aerosols from the compressed air system. There are other oilcoalescing solutions available, but PuraGuard’s unique design – which includes a patented check valve – places the oil-coalescing media ahead of the air dryer cartridge’s desiccant. This feature increases the effective life of the cartridge. Oil aerosols or other small particulates infiltrating the compressed air system can lead to malfunctioning brake valves, failures of emission controls, or erratic AMT shifting.
