Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone) today announced that it has decided to increase price for tires in Japan.

Since last year, prices of tire materials, such as natural rubber, the main material used in tires, synthetic rubber and other petrochemical materials, have continued to rise.

Bridgestone has been working on absorbing impacts of rising tire material prices through productivity improvements, cost reductions, and other measures. However, it was determined that it would be difficult to absorb the impacts through the company’s efforts alone, leading us to make the decision to raise price for tires for the Japan domestic market.

Details regarding the price increase are as follows.

1. Tire products Replacement tires*, tubes, flaps for Japan domestic market,
*Excluding winter tires for passenger cars and vans
2. Price increase ratio(Average) Summer tires for passenger cars and vans 6%
Summer/winter tires for light trucks 6%
Summer/winter tires for trucks and buses 8%
Summer/winter tires for construction and mining vehicles 10%
Summer/winter tires for industrial vehicles 8%
Tires for motorcycles 6%
Other tires 8%
Tubes, flaps 8-10%
3. Timing Effective June 1st, 2017 (Summer tires, tubes, flaps)
Effective September 1st, 2017(Winter tires)
