On October 25, at the 43rd International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) in Singapore, Chery Optimize QC Team presented its project on behalf of China and won the gold award. It was the second consecutive time that Chery had won this global QC award.
ICQCC, an international exchange conference for QC circles initiated by 13 organizations including Singapore Productivity Centre and China Association for Quality, is hailed as the “QC Olympics” with the largest scale, the widest coverage and the strongest cohesion in the international QC field.
With the theme “Future-proof, Future-ready Organizations through Innovation and Quality Circles and Business Excellence”, ICQCC 2018 brought together more than 2,300 members of over 470 QC teams from 53 countries, regions and organizations, quality experts and scholars, and representatives of government organizations. Together with CASC, CNNP, Gree, SGCC and other Chinese enterprises, Chery presented a QC project on behalf of China. The project is improving the quality of a common automotive component to reduce its reject ratio from 39 percent to about 0.3 percent, saving cost by 1.91 million yuan. Eventually the team won the gold award through the outstanding performance of its five members.
Chery Optimize QC Team is a trans-department QC team established a couple of years ago. It has completed more than 20 research projects, won more than 10 industrial, national and international awards, and interpreted the vision of “building an outstanding brand through craftsmanship” by actual deeds. Winning the ICQCC gold award twice consecutively shows that Chery which has always valued independent innovation as its cultural core has been up to top international standards for QC innovation and been ahead in the automotive industry.
