Citroën C3: 400,000 sales in less than two years

Since its launch in November 2016, Citroën C3 has soared in popularity, reaching a landmark 400,000 sales

Since its launch in November 2016, Citroën C3 has soared in popularity, reaching a landmark 400,000 sales – including 160,000 sales since the start of 2018. These impressive figures further cement C3’s place as Citroën’s best-selling model.

Less than two years after C3 was first unveiled, the top-selling supermini has reached an impressive 400,000 sales, with 160,000 units sold since the start of 2018, securing its place as first choice for Citroën’s customers.

Citroën UK is also celebrating a significant milestone for C3, having achieved more than 32,000 sales in the UK alone. The model has also received a multitude of awards in the UK, including ‘Best Urbanite’ in BBC TopGear magazine’s ‘Best Cars in the World’, ‘Best Small Car’ in the Fleet News Awards and even ‘Driving Instructor Car of the Year’ at the inaugural FirstCar Awards 2018.

The third generation of Citroën’s versatile supermini car has seen exciting sales momentum with 12% growth in the first half of 2018 in Europe, placing it in the top 5 within its market segment. As a result, C3 has made a significant contribution to the brand’s sales offensive, with Citroën’s international sales up 9% (compared to the first half of 2017) and the highest volume in Europe in seven years.

The unique design and extensive personalisation options of C3 are clearly popular, as demonstrated by the options selected by customers:

  • Nearly 40% of orders are for the top trim level (‘Flair’ in the UK)
  • Over 65% of sales are with the two-tone colour option
  • Over 55% of sales are with Airbumps®
  • Nearly 25% of sales are with optional interior colours
