Vauxhall sold 33,897 cars and vans in the crucial plate-change month of September, according to figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
The Corsa supermini, Vauxhall’s top-selling model, achieved sales of 10,660, making it the UK’s second best-selling car. Fresh from its ‘Keeps calm. Carries on.’ ad campaign, Vauxhall’s all-new Grandland X registered record segment and overall market share. After a strong September, Insignia and Mokka X also lead their segments year-to-date.
Vauxhall’s passenger car and commercial vehicle market share was 8.6 per cent in September. This was up versus 2017 from 7.3 per cent, making it Vauxhall’s highest monthly market share in 18 months, since March 2017.
Sales were also buoyed by Vauxhall being “WLTP-ready” with all its passenger cars. From 1st September 2018, customers could order from the whole Vauxhall range, from ADAM to Insignia, at Vauxhall retailers without having to fear lengthy delays in delivery.
“September was an exceptional month for Vauxhall with sales results that we can be truly proud of,” said Stephen Norman, Vauxhall’s Managing Director.
“Now we focus on finishing the year strongly with new models including the Grandland X and Combo Life in showrooms now.”
Arriving in showrooms in December, Vauxhall’s all-new Combo van looks set to boost sales further after it was crowned International Van of the Year at the IAA Show in Hanover, Germany, last month.
