Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles claimed top honours once again at this year’s VansA2Z Awards with its all-new Crafter taking home the ‘Best Large Van’ and ‘Van of the Year’ accolades. This is the second year in a row that Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has claimed this top honour, with the Transporter scooping the same award last year.
Judges praised the new generation Crafter, the first of its kind to be 100 per cent Volkswagen and built at a brand new production plant in Poland. They commented that the model had raised “the bar in just about every department for its sector of the market”, with its class-leading performance, features and brand new design.
Also acclaimed was the refinement and handling of the Crafter, with judges describing it as “solid as a rock”. They also praised its extensive use of the latest active safety, driver aid and connected infotainment technologies.
The Transporter and Caddy were also highly commended by the judges, offering further praise for the current Volkswagen range. The judging panel were impressed with the Caddy’s seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox and car-like driving experience. Also highlighted were the Transporter’s comprehensive list of safety equipment which includes standard Automatic Post Collision Braking System.
Chris Black, Head of Fleet at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, commented: “What a year it’s been for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles already: eight awards in just ten days. We’re elated to be recognised by Vans A2Z for producing their ‘Van of the Year’ for the second successive year. I think these awards for the Crafter and Transporter demonstrate the brand’s strength in depth, which continues to gain recognition from across the industry.”
The new multi-award-winning Crafter will be making its UK debut at the Commercial Vehicles Show 2017 at Birmingham’s NEC from 25 to 27 April.
