An association of trucking industry journalists and a leading trucking trade journal have recognized power management company Eaton with two separate industry awards for new products introduced in 2015.
The Truck Writers of North America (TWNA) presented Eaton with its annual Technical Achievement Award for the company’s new line of Procision medium-duty transmissions. Procision is a dual-clutch transmission that delivers significant fuel efficiency improvements versus a similarly equipped vehicle with a torque converted automatic transmission. The award was presented to Eaton on March 2 at the annual American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance meeting in Nashville, Tenn. Criteria to qualify for the award includes a product’s technical innovation and it being applicable to vehicles and available to customers in 2015. A panel of editors representing major industry publications select winners from five finalists nominated by TWNA members.
Additionally, Heavy Duty Trucking (HDT) magazine named the low-speed enhancements that Eaton made to its automated manual transmissions as a Top 20 New Products recipient for 2015. The low-speed enhancements were made to Eaton’s UltraShift PLUS and Fuller Advantage heavy-duty transmissions to improve a truck’s maneuverability in a variety of applications. Top 20 award winners are chosen from new products reported on by the HDT editorial team and are evaluated in three areas: innovation, how well the product addresses industry issues/concerns, and the potential to improve a truck fleet’s bottom line.
