Magna International Inc. will showcase its contract manufacturing expertise as well as its drivable FCREEV concept vehicle at this year’s International Geneva Motor Show. The show runs from March 7th to the 19th, and Magna’s exhibit is located in Hall 6, Booth 6261.
Building vehicles as a contract manufacturer remains an important and unique part of Magna’s business. The new BMW 5 Series will roll off the Magna Steyr assembly line in Graz, Austria, starting in spring 2017. The Jaguar I-Pace – a compact, premium SUV/crossover vehicle with a fully electric drive – will follow in early 2018. Magna also contract manufactures the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which has been built in Graz for more than 37 years.
The FCREEV concept – a Fuel-Cell Range-Extended Electric Vehicle – combines the benefits of zero-emissions electric driving with the advantages of fast-filling hydrogen fuel tanks, providing an impressive solution for achieving long ranges while driving emissions-free.
“One of our strengths is our contract manufacturing expertise, which puts Magna in a unique position in the global automotive supply industry. We will continue to expand in this area thanks to the trust of our customers,” said Günther Apfalter, President Magna International Europe & Magna Steyr. “In tandem we are also able to combine drive technologies in such a way that customers can benefit from high-performance, cost-effective vehicle concepts.”
