C-NCAP is a crash safety performance testing program which tests newly purchased car models from the market based on the standards which are stricter and more comprehensive than China’s current compulsory standards. The C-NCAP crash test consists of 4 items. The first item is a frontal 100% overlapping rigidity wall obstacle crash test at a collision speed of 50km/h, with a full score of 18 points. The GA6 scored 17 points on this item, the highest among the first batch of the 17 tested models announced by C-NCAP in 2015. After the frontal 100% crash test, the front airbags of the GA6 popped out normally and the simulated person had a normal posture during the crash. The front energy-absorbing zone of the GA6 encountered normal deformation and all 4 doors of the occupant compartment could be opened normally.
The second item is a deformable mobile wall obstacle side crash test at a collision speed of 50km/h, with a full score of 18 points. After the side crash test, the side airbags and side air curtains of the GA6 popped out normally and effectively protected the head of the simulated person inside the car, scoring 18 points on this item.
The third item is a frontal 40% overlapping deformable wall obstacle crash test at a collision speed of 64km/h, with a full score of 18 points. After the 40% frontal off-centered crash, the front energy-absorbing zone of the GA6 encountered normal deformation and all 4 doors of the occupant compartment could be opened normally, scoring 15.29 points.
The fourth item is a neck protection test after a low-speed crash. It simulates the effect of protection of the driver seat headrest on the passenger when there is a tail collision. The test speed is 15.65km/h, and the full score on the item is 4 points. The GA6 only caused a minor deformation of the simulated person’s neck, scoring 3.88 points. In addition, the GA6 won 4 bonus points for its configuration of ESP, side airbags and ISOFIX child seat buckles.
In the C-NCAP crash test, the GA6 received a high score of 58.2 points and won a five-star safety rating, taking a far lead over numerous joint venture brand models.
