GAZ Group, which isa part of one of Russia’s largest diversified industrial groups – Basic Element, provided Mosgortrans with electric bus LIAZ-6274. One of the largest passenger carriers of the country will assess the performance of the bus on real megapolis routes for a few months. Electric bus uses batteries charged from the power supply, thereby completely eliminating harmful polluting emissions into the atmosphere.
GAZ Group provided an electric bus LIAZ-6274 to Mosgortrans . Electric bus is an alternative to a large class buses with petrol, diesel and gas engines. The machine is designed on the basis of low-floor bus LIAZ-5292 and is designed for urban transportation.
Electric bus is equipped with an induction engine, traction engine inverter on IGBT-transistors with the regenerative braking (electricity generation at the time of braking) and energy storage. As part of the energy storage device equipped with thermostatic system (allows to save battery capacity in sub-zero temperatures), lithium-ion batteries are used, which provide a power reserve of up to 280 km electric bus. Battery is fully charged within five hours.
The use of electric buses on city routes allows to reduce polluting emission levels up to 100%, increase comfort for passengers by reducing noise and vibration in the cabin, as well as significantly reduce operating costs in the context of ever increasing fuel costs and significantly simplify routine maintenance.
Nikolay Odintsov, Corporate Sales Development Director of GAZ Group:
– GAZ Group is always striving to develop new technology. So, we are the first of the domestic manufacturers to have developed buses running on compressed natural gas. Today we are releasing a full line of CNG-buses of all classes and purposes. Designing cars that run on electricity, of course – is one of the most promising directions of bus construction in the future. We expect that during the performance test in Moscow, we will obtain data that will make further improvements to the electric bus prototype.
Yevgeny Mikhailov, General Director of Mosgortrans:
– Electric bus is a completely new kind of urban passenger transport for Moscow. We will be happy to conduct a field test to see it in action. The first phase of testing will take place without passengers, and if there are no complaints we will release the electric bus to one of the existing urban routes. During testing, we will determine the suitability level of such kind of urban passenger transport as electric bus to modern needs of the capital and its inhabitants. In addition, the test will help us to understand how easy it is to maintain and operate the bus on batteries.
