The naming ceremony for Höegh Jacksonville, one of the newbuildings that Höegh Autoliners took delivery of in 2014, was held in Hamburg. The photo is taken when the vessel passes the city’s new operahouse.

On the very day 30 years ago MV HUAL Rolita loaded 175 Daimler vehicles as well as 844 freight tons of high and heavy and breakbulk cargo for the Middle East at shed 74 in the port of Hamburg. This is considered the launch of Höegh Autoliners’ liner service from Hamburg to the Middle East, a service that is still running.

The historic loading operation was managed by UNIKAI as terminal operators in the port of Hamburg and since this date the successful cooperation between Höegh Autoliners and UNIKAI has continued.

Instrumental in the success story are also our customers; Daimler AG from Stuttgart and crane manufacturer Liebherr from Ehingen. Both companies have shipped a significant amount of cargo together with Höegh Autoliners via the port of Hamburg to the Middle East over the last 30 years. During this period we have also seen the cargo diversity develop in to heavy roll trailers with project cargo, commercial vehicles of all kinds as well as conventional cargo.

Höegh Autoliners currently serve the port of Hamburg with 2 port calls per month connecting Hamburg directly with destinations in the Red Sea, Arabian Gulf and India.
