The company received the “Supplier of the Year 2013 – Excellence in General Purchasing” award for supplying the waterborne automotive coatings for Hyundai’s HB20, the 2013 Brazilian Car of the Year, manufactured in Piracicaba, Brazil.
“The award is recognition of our successful partnership. It demonstrates the great commitment of our international team to deliver sustainable solutions, anticipating the needs of our customers,” said Fabian Garcia, key account manager for BASF Automotive OEM Coatings in Brazil.
Hyundai and BASF have been in close partnership since the beginning of the paint process installation at the Piracicaba plant. BASF helped facilitate a shortened, integrated process where one step was eliminated – this is the first time BASF’s integrated process was used in South America.
BASF is the pioneer when it comes to the development of waterborne basecoats. Waterborne technology continues to be a great alternative to solvent-borne technology because of the eco-friendly advantages.
