The MAN Group has published its 2018 Corporate Responsibility Report. It focuses on issues like electric mobility, climate protection in production, and employee volunteering.
The climate target in production has been reached ahead of schedule, marking a milestone in the year under review: as part of its Climate Strategy, the MAN Group set itself the goal of reducing CO2 emissions at its sites by 25% in absolute terms by 2020, compared with the baseline of 2008. “We already achieved our goal ahead of schedule in 2018 with a 26% reduction,” explains Peter Attin, Senior Vice President for Corporate Responsibility at MAN SE. “Having said that, we have no intention of resting on our laurels. We are continuing to expand our climate protection strategy in production through increased use of renewable energies and the introduction of new energy supply concepts.”
In a quest to turn low-pollutant urban mobility with as close to zero local emissions as possible into reality, MAN Truck & Bus continued to drive the electrification of its commercial vehicles forward in 2018. The company’s very first electric van, the eTGE, has been in series production since 2018. The series production of fully electric city buses will start in 2020. In 2023, MAN plans to launch the series production of eTrucks for urban distribution transportation.
The MAN Group actively puts its commitment to people and the environment into practice, something which is evidenced by high levels of employee involvement in social and ecological projects. In 2018, the number of hours that MAN Truck & Bus employees in Germany spent on voluntary work quadrupled compared with the previous year, coming in at 2,890.
The reporting takes place in two formats:
- The MAN CR Report was prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. It outlines the ways in which MAN lives up to its commitment to the Ten Principles of corporate responsibility defined by the UN Global Compact.
- An abridged version of the CR Report is available online and offers a brief overview of the main indicators and corporate responsibility activities that took place in 2018.
