PEUGEOT sales grow despite slump in UK market

PEUGEOT’s UK car and LCV market share up by 0.1% to 4.0%

Increased sales against the backdrop of a shrinking car and van market has seen PEUGEOT increase its car and LCV market share by 0.1% to 4.0%, according to the latest Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) September registrations figures.

PEUGEOT vans has performed particularly strongly against a declining market. The UK new van market was down 22.8% year-on-year in September, yet PEUGEOT van Dealers achieved a sales growth of 1.8% across the same period. PEUGEOT has grown its new van market share by 2.5% since last September, and now accounts for 11% of the market.

Much of PEUGEOT’s success is down to its focus on strong residual values across its vehicle range. By minimising depreciation, PEUGEOT has ensured its monthly finance premiums remain low and competitive. PEUGEOT has also adopted a strategy of focusing on retail and not chasing pre registrations to boost figures.

David Peel, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, said: “PEUGEOT car and van Dealers across the country have faced a declining market for the past 12 months. Yet our strong performance shows our staff continue to exceed expectations, while our strong product line-up continues to win over new customers. We expect the success to continue over the next 12 months as we begin UK deliveries of our first all-electric vehicles, the e-208 and e-2008, alongside plug-in hybrid electric variants of the 3008 SUV, 508 and all-new 508 SW.”
