With a comprehensive and free over-the-air (OTA) update, smart now offers more optimizations for an improved driving experience. With OTA 1.4.0, functions such as low energy regeneration and smart companion selection will be made available and optimized for all smart #1 and smart #3 models.

Premium technology that serves a purpose
smart provides state-of-the-art technology that is geared to the needs of its customers. Recurring OTA update optimizations contribute to a more efficient, reliable and enjoyable mobility experience. Since the launch of the new product generation, smart has already delivered five OTA updates that have continuously improved the comfort of driving a smart.
More optimizations for increased driving comfort and safety
With the new OTA update 1.4.0, smart offers a range of new functions and optimizations that further increase convenience, comfort and safety in various driving situations. Highlights include optimized energy recovery management and up-to-date traffic announcements. The update also includes the following features:
- Vehicle-to-Load: As part of energy management, the traction battery of smart vehicles can supply power to external devices. This requires a special device-to-vehicle cable.2
- Low energy regeneration: This new function allows the effect of recuperation to be felt more gently. As soon as it is activated and the accelerator pedal is released, the vehicle reacts less energetically, the effect of regenerative braking is smoother for passengers and this provides even more comfort for the driver. The function must be selected each time the vehicle is restarted, it is not set as standard.
- New sound experiences for the smart #1: This update enables new sound effects for the interior of the smart #1 Premium and new engine simulation sounds in the smart #1 BRABUS and smart #1 Launch Edition.
- smart Companion: For the first time, the avatar can be selected for both models, the smart #1 and #3 – either the characteristic fox avatar or the cheetah. You can also specify whether the avatar should be displayed animated or as a static graphic. Your choice of smart Companion is saved.
- Flexible 360-degree camera window: The “picture-in-picture” 360-degree camera view (if available) can be positioned as desired on the central screen.
