Mitsubishi Motors in the UK continues a strong performance in 2018 with the brand’s best October for passenger car sales since 2005.
Sales were double those of October 2017, 1,933 versus 968, helped by strong performances from the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and the Mitsubishi Outlander (petrol and diesel) which amassed 394 and 257 sales respectively.
Year to date (YTD) to the end of October, Mitsubishi Motors’ sales were up 28.0% over the same period last year, making it one of the most improved brands for passenger car sales in the UK car market in 2018, despite the challenging market conditions.
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV continues to be the UK’s best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle with strong demand for the newest version, which launched in September, leading to 976 registrations – an increase of 83% compared to October last year. With improved EV and petrol-engine performance, and significantly increased efficiency, the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV returns impressive WLTP figures of 28 EV mile range, 139mpg and 46g/km while many of its main rivals are not currently available to buy. Year to date registrations have increased by 8.9% compared to the first 10 months of 2017.
Rob Lindley, Managing Director, Mitsubishi Motors in the UK said: “Our strongest October sales performance since 2005 has helped solidify what has been a successful year for the brand. The launch of three new 4WD and SUV models this year, including the 2019 Outlander PHEV, has enabled us to maintain our momentum and sales success throughout the year. This is vital as we build and grow our brand into 2019 and beyond.”
