Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. celebrates its 120th anniversary this April. The Company’s history dates back to April 1897, to the establishment of Sumitomo Copper Rolling Works. Originating from the manufacture of electric wire and cable, the Company, including its group companies, has steadily expanded its field of operations over the years. While promoting diversification of its operations starting from around 1960, and then its globalization, and also making unwavering efforts to achieve technological development, the Company has been contributing extensively to the development and progress of society not only in Japan but also in other parts of the world.
As a company that underpins the social infrastructure and people’s daily lives, Sumitomo Electric continues to accommodate new needs generated in social changes through the innovation and integration of its wide variety of products and technological assets accumulated so far.
