TMD Friction, a leading global manufacturer of brake friction solutions, has invested €1.5 million in a new test bench to comply with the latest Euro 7 regulations, reducing time to market for new brake pads.
The new emissions dyno will work alongside the brake manufacturer’s global suite of 36 dynamometers within the research and development (R&D) department to specifically measure brake emissions according to GTR24 requirements.
TMD Friction, which was part of the working group helping to design the testing methodology for the new Euro 7 regulations, has ensured it is ready for the future with this investment. The test bench will be used for new original equipment (OE) homologations as well as development of friction formulations for both OE and aftermarket products.
The machinery will give TMD Friction the freedom to test its products in-house using the same equipment as independent testing agencies, rather than waiting for availability externally, which could lead to delays for customers.
R&D at the core of every product
TMD Friction is committed to always delivering high-quality friction products which have been carefully engineered by its team of R&D experts. With an average investment of €30 million in R&D each year, all research, development and testing is carried out in-house to maintain quality assurance. It also ensures customers benefit from the latest, most advanced and highest quality parts.
The new test bench reaffirms TMD Friction’s dedication to innovation and leading the market with world-class braking solutions.
Christian Stolz, Vice President R&D OE at TMD Friction, said: “We wanted to be prepared and guarantee a seamless process for developing new products in line with the Euro 7 legislation. Testing for emissions as part of the new standards will add an additional step within the overall testing process, but the test bench will allow us to conduct the required tests in-house, so customers can receive their fully compliant, quality parts much quicker.
“TMD Friction’s braking products are renowned globally for premium quality, safety and comfort. This is thanks to our continuous investment into R&D, where we work tirelessly to engineer friction formulations to the specific vehicle’s braking system. This latest investment into emissions testing equipment will ensure we continue to deliver the best products and solutions for our customers worldwide.”
