Dr Ulrich Eichhorn, Managing Director of Technology and Environment at the VDA, has been confirmed as a speaker at Automotive Megatrends Europe 2014, taking place on September 10-11, 2014. In his role at the VDA, Eichhorn holds group responsibility for technology, safety, environmental protection, research and quality management. In addition, he is the VDA representative in committees such as DIN, ISO and TUV .
Eichhorn began his career at Ford in 1993, serving in Germany, the UK and the US. In 2000 he transferred to Volkswagen, where he served as Head of Group Research until 2003. During his time there, the 24 hour world-record with the W12-engined Nardo sports car was achieved, as was the successful development of the super efficient ‘One-Litre’ per 100 km Volkswagen model.
Eichhorn served as Member of the Board at Bentley Motors from 2003 through 2011, overseeing all aspects of engineering of such models as the GTC, Flying Spur, Azure, Brooklands Coupé, Supersports and the all-new Mulsanne.
He took on his current position at the VDA in January 2012. “I am passionate about helping to shape the mobility of the future,” said Eichhorn. Megatrends Europe 2014 will help him “learn about and contribute to important developments in society, technology and mobility,” he added.
