Following a successful pilot phase in the first half of 2018, Vauxhall has launched its new Retailer Recruitment Service (RRS). The brand has offered the service to its entire UK Retail Network via long-standing partner, GMD People.
RRS is a tailored recruitment service that makes use of social media to attract applicants to vacancies. The system pre-screens candidates in a way that removes bias and subjectivity, providing the broadest assessment of their suitability. Only those that have been screened, profiled and successfully interviewed over the phone are passed on to the recruiting retailer, along with a comprehensive report on a variety of assessments. From that point, the retailer can arrange face-to-face interviews and continue with their own recruitment process.
With average staff turnover rates in the retail automotive sector ranging between 35 and 40 per cent, recruitment is a time-consuming and costly process. By using RRS, retailers no longer need to wade through piles of CVs or schedule hours of interview time with a long list of candidates that may or may not be suitable. The system saves vast amounts of recruiting time and effort for the retailer, allowing them to focus instead on their day-to-day business. Innovative technology matches candidates to the specific role they are applying for, meaning RRS selects the right people the first time, every time.
RRS costs a maximum of £297 per month per retailer market area, for as many vacancies as needed. Unlike recruitment agencies, the service does not operate on a commission basis and therefore presents a more cost-effective solution.
Speaking about his own experience of RRS, Tim Pickering, Group Operational Director of Go Vauxhall, said: “We piloted RRS at ten sites across London with a view to reducing spirally agency costs and improving the generally poor selection of candidates. Within the first two months of using the service, we recruited six strong candidates into the business at a relatively low cost. As a result, we now always place any new vacancies with RRS.”
