Volvo Car USA announced today that the company will create Volvo Car University. The University will embody the customer-centric focus for Volvo Cars and its retail partners. It will become the cornerstone for training and leadership development for the entire Americas region. The Volvo Car University campus will be built in South Carolina and is anticipated to start construction later this year.

I am now proud to announce that Volvo Car University is the next stage in our development,” said Anders Gustafsson, Senior Vice President, Americas and President and CEO, Volvo Car USA. “I see this as an investment in people and will become a place where our teams will develop new skills and grow with our collective business.”
Katarina Fjording, previously Vice President, Purchasing and Manufacturing has been appointed Director, Volvo Car University. In this role, Katarina will move from the manufacturing side of the business to the commercial organization to help lead the build out of the University with immediate effect.
“I would like to thank Katarina for the endless work she has done in successfully establishing Volvo’s first industrial operations in America and creating the Volvo Car Charleston Plant,” said Anders Gustafsson. “The fantastic new facility was delivered on time and on budget. Katarina did a wonderful job assembling a strong team there with a great spirit.”
In her new role, Katarina will report to Riyhana Bey, Director Customer Experience.
“Katarina brings with her a wealth of global cross functional experience and knowledge, ranging from product development to manufacturing,” said Riyhana Bey, Director Customer Experience, Volvo Car USA. “Her strong background in creating and building operations from their infancy and managing operations makes her an exceptional fit for Volvo Car University.”
As communicated previously, Jeff Moore has been named Vice President, Manufacturing and plant manager for the Volvo Car Charleston Plant.
