Western Star Truck Sales, Inc., is adding versatility to its vocational lineup with the addition of split-shaft power take-off (PTO) options to power pumps, generators, air compressors and other equipment of truck engines.

The partnership with NAMCO Machine and Gear Works Ltd. of Edmonton, Alberta, will benefit Western Star customers in the United States and Canada that operate specialized equipment requiring a PTO installed behind the transmission.

Now available to order for all Western Star truck models, the split-shaft PTO option is a good fit for oilfield trucks, vacuum trucks, concrete pumpers, mobile drilling rigs and emergency equipment.

“The split-shaft PTO option is a practical, cost-effective alternative to using dedicated engines to power high-speed, high-torque auxiliary equipment,” said Peter Schimunek, marketing segment manager for Western Star. “It’s a feature that will let our hard-working customers be even more productive with our trucks.”

Added Bernard Vuković, president of NAMCO: “We are pleased to partner with a company like Western Star, which is renowned for manufacturing some of the best vocational trucks available today. This joint venture enables NAMCO to provide our high-quality, pre-engineered and custom gearing solutions to Western Star’s vocational customers.”
