China launches pilot programmes for V2G technology

China is the world leader in EV adoption, but with widespread uptake comes the risk of a strained energy grid. By Stewart Burnett

The Chinese government announced a new series of pilot programmes on 2 April, intended to assess whether the country’s ever-growing fleet of electric vehicles can be viably used to stabilise the energy grid. There are 30 projects in total spanning nine cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
