AAA poll shows persistent US distrust of autonomous vehicles

61% of AAA respondents say they remain distrusting of autonomous vehicles, a 5% improvement on the year before. By Stewart Burnett

Distrust in autonomous driving technology persists in the US, according to a new study by the American Automobile Association shared on 25 February 2025. While only 13% of the 1,095 respondents said they trusted self-driving vehicles and 26% were unsure of their safety, 61% indicated that they still don’t trust them.
