In an apparent validation of President Trump’s tariff strategy, Hyundai has announced plans to invest US$21bn into US manufacturing. Among the projects outlined in the plan are a new US$5.8bn steel plant in Louisiana, and US$9bn to boost the automaker’s domestic production to 1.2 million units per year by 2028.
