Mercedes-Benz will reduce costs, renew focus on ICE

After disappointing returns for 2024, particularly in terms of EV sales, the automaker is embarking on deep cost cuts through 2030. By Stewart Burnett

Mercedes-Benz posted its full year earnings on 20 February 2025, including a 28% drop in net profits to €10.4bn (US$11bn) and a 5% drop in revenues to €146bn. The latest automaker to share weaker-than-hoped 2024 results, it announced further cost-cutting measures and a renewed focus on internal combustion engines (ICEs) going forwards.
