Shell: China will have 1.2 million LNG trucks by 2030

In its annual LNG Outlook for 2025, Shell forecasts strong growth for the biofuel in Asia, with China’s road fleets driving demand. By Stewart Burnett

Global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) will increase roughly 60% by 2040, largely driven by demand in Asia, according to Shell’s LNG Outlook 2025 report. China will be the main driver of growth; Shell forecasts its domestic fleet of LNG-powered trucks will increase by around 23% to 1.2 million by 2030 alone.
