Size, scope and resources – only the strongest will survive the seating evolution

The importance of seating is only expected to grow with the advent of autonomous vehicles, and Lear is making sure it has the capabilities to thrive in this quickly changing landscape. By Megan Lampinen

Surviving today's competitive automotive supply market demands constant innovation and expansion. For Lear, maintaining its position in the seating segment means acquisition and more acquisition. The company has accumulated a sizeable list of purchases to support its seating business over the years, including Guilford Mills and Eagle Ottawa. Last year it brought in the expertise of AccuMED and Tempronics. These have now been followed up with the purchase of Grupo Antolin's automotive seating unit.
